Have you ever wondered how music affects the brain? The effects of music on developing children are especially well-documented, and they have an important impact on their overall health and mental health. Dr. Kyle Pruett of Yale University will explain more with this special talk and Q&A session examining music’s special influence on the human brain.
Parents encounter a lot of noise in the expert advice domain about the important of music to IQ, the brain, and social and personality development. The evening’s conversation with this physician/musician will focus on cutting through the noise to provide clarifying information about how and why the growing brain seems to favor music, whether it is simply heard, performed or created. We’ll explore brain studies and images that tell us there is far more to ‘tuning the brain’ than we thought a decade ago.
Dr. Kyle Pruett is Clinical Professor of Child Psychiatry and Nursing at Yale University, where he served as Director of Medical Studies at the Yale School of Medicine’s Child Study Center, receiving the Lifetime Distinguished Teaching award.
