There’s a surf party featuring Bigfoot Rocketship (hear them above) at Broken City on Wednesday; Million Dollar Fix, The Electric Revival and John Lesbian Seagull at the Drum on Thursday; and more shows at The Palomino over the weekend.
Garage Montage at Art Gallery of Calgary (Opening Thursday, May 16)
Calgary’s under-the-radar art scene has been dubbed “DIY Calgary,” for their collective-forming and anywhere-is-a-gallery mentality (which was on display recently at four houses in Sunnyside in the Wreck City exhibition, itself a tribute to the former house-turned-gallery, 809). Works by Bee Kingdom, Arbour Lake Sghool, Avalanche!, The Bakery and more will be on display at the AGC. There’s an opening reception with free admission on Thursday.
