Inviting the author of a book entitled Better Living Through Plastic Explosives to be a writer in residence seems either cavalier or inspired. Either way, administrators in Mount Royal University’s English department have taken the plunge and Zsuzsi Gartner has arrived on campus to begin her duties. First among those will be a public reading Wednesday, Jan. 23. The event goes at 7 p..m. in room Y224.
Better Living Through Plastic Explosives was nominated for the Giller Prize in 2011 and the short-story collection has just been published in paperback. To get an idea about the writer behind the provocative title, check out the video she made in advance of her appearance at the Giller evening.
