Take the edge off of seasonal madness with a free lunchtime concert this week. On Tuesday, Dec. 11, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s cellist David Morrissey and violinist Steven J. Lubiarz will perform from noon to 1 p.m. in the Devonian Gardens. The gardens recently reopened after an extensive, multi-year renovation and now feature 10,000 shrubs, 1.5 million pounds of soil and 550 trees.
“Showcasing our wonderful musicians in a unique setting allows people to enjoy live music as part of their daily routine,” Paul Chambers, manager of education and outreach said in a press release. “They can speak with the musicians and learn more about these talented artists who live and work in their community.”
The gardens are located in the Core Shopping Centre, 400, 317 7th Ave. S.W. And there will be another free lunchtime concert on Tuesday, Dec. 18, with Janice Amsel on violin and Steve Amsel on clarinet.
