The surest way of ensuring that Sugar Plums dance in your head when your head hits the pillow on Christmas Eve is to attend a performance of The Nutcracker earlier that day.
Alberta Ballet’s annual production wraps up with a matinee beginning at 1:30 p.m. It’s the perfect way to make the transition from working stiff to holiday celebrant. The production features choreography by Edmund Stripe and a lavish design from the Emmy winner Zack Brown.
Of course there is always a chance that you might have a troubled sleep marked by nightmares in which Cossack rats feature prominently.
So to ensure sweet dreams, arrive an hour before curtain and take in the Sugar Plum Party, which gives the whole family a chance to dress up, make masks and even try a few dance steps.
Tickets are available through the Alberta Ballet website or by calling 403-245-4549.
