Reading is the gift that keeps on giving. On Monday, Calgary children will be unwrapping a present that’s sure to entertain and educate them. As part of the TD Grade One Book Giveaway, author/illustrator Philippe Beha will read from his book I’ve Lost My Cat. Students from Battalion Park Elementary will be on hand for the event at the Signal Hill Library and will each receive a copy of I’ve Lost My Cat. Every Grade 1 student in Canada is receiving a copy of the book, with more than 500,000 copies being distributed. So far, more than five million books have been given out through the giveaway program, which is now in its 13th year. The effort is co-ordinated through the Canadian Children’s Book Centre, with co-operation from school boards, ministries of education and libraries.
