The countdown to Christmas is officially on. For many people, the Millarville Christmas Market—which runs Nov. 9 through Nov. 11 this year—kicks off the holiday season. There’s everything from handicrafts such as wreaths and holiday-themed decor to woodworking and metalcrafts to yummy edible treats (many from the market’s summertime vendors).
There’s a Santa’s Workshop where children aged three to five and accompanying adult can make crafts or decorate, while kids aged six to 12 can attend on their own for an hour while their parents shop. And in the afternoon, there will be free hayrides.
The market takes place at the Millarville Race Track, which is south of Priddis, west of Okotoks. There is a $5 per person or $10 per car entry fee. Please don’t bring your dog, as they aren’t allowed in the market. There are outdoor as well an indoor areas, so dress for the weather. The market runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. And if you’ve attended in the past, you’ll know to go earlier, rather than later, as the event really pulls in a crowd.—Ruth Myles
